It started to bzzz with no pressure after one year. I filled out a support request on the Phillips website and got the replacement for free, without any fuss.

Good experience with support, but funny enough, my previous Phillips toothbrush malfunctioned the same way after four years.

Which means it’s a common problem which contributes to e-waste, and Phillips hasn’t fixed it.

Used Oral-B for decades but their battery life is not the same as it once was. My first Oral-B lasted for ages but the next 3 declined rapidly and needed to charge them every second day in the end.

So I took the risk and gave Philips Sonicare a chance (got the 4300 for £65).

Well well well, what a dramatic change, not only is the cleaning result much better (feels like a dentist cleaning after every use) but also the battery life is amazing. I use mine twice daily (approx. 4-5 minutes each time) and only have to charge it once a months which is absolutely amazing.

Yes, the replacement heads are a bit more expensive than Oral-B but I got 4 for £10 on offer, so that’s not too bad.

Got mine now for 12 months and still works perfectly. Used 5 heads so far.

Only downside for me is that the timer stops after 2 minutes and I have to turn the toothbrush on again. Would prefer if it just keeps going but it is not the end of the world. The other minor issue is that once you need a new head the brush will keep reminding you for a while which is a bit annoying if you want to use the old one for a bit longer. But this will also stop after a while and is no deal breaker either.

Also the travel case is useful and since the battery life is amazing, you can leave the charger at home if you go on holiday 🙂

    Cleaning results 10/10
    Battery life 10/10
    Handling and looks 10/10

    Would recommend it to anyone!

Really happy with this toothbrush. Teeth feel lovely and clean after and It’s quite gentle too.
The battery lasts for ages between charges.
Only issue I have is with the awful case, that doesn’t click shut.

I’ve had two of the eye wateringly expensive travel ones over the years (too expensive for what it is) and dabbled with the significantly cheaper 3100 too (rubbish ineffectual power … and died within 9 months) but this one hits the sweet spot and we’ve had about three in the family over recent times. It does what its supposed to very well and robustly without ridiculous gimmicky extra modes. I soon realised I was wasting my money on the expensive and budget models – as soon as I got a refund on my short lived 3100 I immediately put ot towards this much more reliable and dependable 4300. You can feel the difference straight away. I noticed that this time around the extended warranty wasn’t offered as an optional extra … perhaps they’ve had a run of returns on the 3100 and just don’t want to cover toothbrushes any more?

I bought this in October 2022. Its a nice toothbrush and when it works well its excellent. But its so unreliable. I’ve now had it replaced twice since buying it. Phillips after sales service is very good and as long as you can evidence that you bought it and tell them what’s wrong, they’ll replace it though it’s shipped to the UK from abroad so takes a few days.

But back to the reliability issue, both the one that I bought originally and the replacement that they sent me, began to make a loud noise and the vibration got worse and worse until it was just like using an ordinary toothbrush. The replacement one finally stopped working altogether. Again Phillips replaced it but having 2 different toothbrushes in 12 months doesn’t say much about their reliability.

Decent price in the sale. Comes with an EU plug , which is annoying , so need a plug adapter
