The texture is a bit off-putting at first, it feels almost sticky, but once you add water it foams up well and washes off cleanly.
As all simple products there is no ‘scent’ as such, but it does still smell clean, if that makes sense!!
My skin felt quite tight after using, but that’s not a bad thing at my age.

This gel cleanser by Simple arrived in a 230ml plastic bottle which has a flip open lid which is easy to dispense from. The gel formula transforms into a foam cleanser when you apply it to damp skin which lathers reasonably well and effectively cleanses your skin.
The formula contains 5% AHA (lactic acid) and hyaluronic acid which exfoliates your skin and boosts hydration for soft, smooth skin. This combination, along with the inclusion of ceramide boosters which supports the skins natural ceramide production, repairs and helps protect the skin barrier and therefore improving the appearance by locking in moisture. The formula is also enriched with micelles to remove dirt particles and in conjunction with amino acids cleanses your skin without stripping it or drying it out. I found that using the cleanser did leave my skin feeling soft, clean and hydrated but not particularly exfoliated nor smooth.
The use of lactic acid does means that you have to be careful about sun exposure so I am reserving this cleanser for use during the evenings and it is suggested that you only use it a few times a week to begin with if lactic acid isn’t already incorporated into your skincare routine. I suggest that if you do want to use the cleanser before exposure to the sun, you should wear a high SPF sunscreen and a hat to protect your skin.
The formula has great credentials including being 100% biodegradable, vegan friendly and cruelty free (PETA approved); it is also suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin. The cleanser is also free from soap, alcohol, artificial colouring, perfume and sulphates as well as being hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested. The cleanser has a very neutral scent.
Priced £5.33 as a one-off purchase or £5.06 if you sign up to Amazon’s subscribe and save scheme at the time of reviewing, this a good cleanser but I’m not sure I felt that it particularly exfoliated nor smoothed my skin but it did leave it soft, cleansed and hydrated.

Likes that it’s non scented, not a lover of perfumed products.
Lathered well in use, didn’t need to dispense a lot to get a good foam.
Used only a few times a week, as directed, whilst showering.
Found it easy to flip open in the shower.
Did feel it left a really clean feeling but hasn’t noticed any great marked improvement in her skin using this. Perhaps as she’s a regular user, maybe not as evident as someone using it for the first time?

Texture is a little weird, very gloopy but foams up nicely when massaged into your skin.
Makes my skin feel nice after it has been rinsed off.
Scent is very faint but smells a bit like vomit – combined with the texture it’s very off putting! Would not buy again based on this.

It is a clear, slightly viscous liquid. Easy to open top but would be secure enough for travel/leaks etc. Use on moistened skin, very lightly foams, easy to rinse off. It says avoid eyes but I didn’t notice any issue, I wear contact lenses and it’s definitely not very irritant/strong smelling etc – no stinging at all. Afterwards my skin felt clean but I wouldn’t say massively exfoliated. Stayed ‘clean’ and freshly washed feeling for much longer than just with soap/water. No irritation/ rashes at all. Pleasant to use.
Notice it says only to use a couple/three times per week, not sure why the limitation ?
Was a little surprised it said to use with damp skin/wash off thought when I read ‘cleanser’ it might be more apply to face with cleansing pad instead. Would I buy this again as an exfoliating product- no I wouldnt, it’s quite nice to use but doesnt give that typical exfoliated type of post wash feel that I’ve had with other products . It is however a nice product as a face wash, just didn’t rate the exfoliation aspect. Non stingy, not scented, easy to use. Still not sure what it is that means they say not for daily use though? Hope this helps you decide if this is right for you.

This is a pretty effective cleanser. I was initially concerned it might be too strong for me as I have very sensitive skin and will go red and blotchy with a lot of ingredients but not issues with this at all.
Simple to use and really lifts out all the residue of the day from your face.
Very affordable too for a good quality skincare products.
