No matter which Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream I buy, I find that the quality is always great. They have hit the spot yet again with their
Taylors of Old Bond Street Shaving Cream (150g, Jermyn Street)
.
According to the tub, the Jermyn Street cream is designed for sensitive skin, and I have indeed noticed that the lather tends to be a little bit thicker than the other TOBS creams. You can always compensate with a touch more water if you prefer your lather to be a little bit thinner. The lather develops really quickly and you only need a little bit on the tips of the brush. The lather is nice and dense, doesn’t dry out quickly, and it gives a nice comfortable shave. The razor just glides across the skin. I use an alum block after I shave, which tends to highlight any areas that are perhaps a little bit raw (usually on my neck) – but after shaving with the Jermyn Street cream there is no feedback whatsoever from the alum block. Not even the slightest nip. So it is certainly good at cushioning and protecting the skin during the shave.
The scent is also really nice. I find it a bit more subtle compared to the other TOBS creams. It doesn’t really last for any length of time after the shave, but for me this is not a problem. I always use aftershave balm in any case. If you have an aftershave of a different scent, then you will be able to use it after the Jermyn Street cream without any problem – it is subtle enough that it won’t clash. I tend to use sandalwood aftershave gel (from TOBS), and the Jermyn Street cream compliments it nicely.
The packaging is the usual TOBS affair with a screw top plastic pot. I find that the black colour of the pot gives it an air of sophistication as it sits in the bathroom. I like the TOBS pots because, once they are empty, I tend to use them as a lathering bowl – just the right size and works great.
So, in summary, the Jermyn Street shaving cream is a great product that I highly recommend.

This was my first Jermyn Street purchase, but certainly won’t be my last. It forms a really rich, creamy lather, smells fantastic (without overpowering), and is great for sensitive skin. What’s more, whilst it may seem costly compared to some alternatives, very little is needed per shave, and so the tub lasts several months

very pleased with the product, it has reduced the soreness on the face a great deal, it is also very economical to use, with a great lather.

This ticks all the boxes. I only shave two or three times a week and only my head. A tiny chickpea sized amount is enough to cover a complete shave of my large head. As the current rate of consumption this tub could last couple of years – and I would definitely order again as it smells great, but most importantly cuts down those little nicks to the skin and leaves the skin nicely moisturised. Great value, great product.
