I’ve used L’Oréal Preference off n on over the years and always liked the easy at home dye process. Since reaching a point where my natural red hair has begun aging which has given me a bright white money piece, grey/white roots with a natural light ash brown base tones, something had to be done! My hairdresser didn’t seem to understand I wanted to work with my hair as I’m happy to go grey/white but have some experimental fun with it along the way and not just topping up my roots with a darker brown.
My process involved two at home bleach kit treatments (OMG my poor hair) which struggled with my really dark auburn colours so it was never going to be all one yellow bleach out which I accept. Nevertheless, after the bleach (mix of bright oranges) I used Scott Cornwall Cool Ash Colour Restore which did a decent job of toning me down to a mix of dark blondes/blue-ish hues it wasn’t a complete disaster.
Next, my intention was to use the 7.1 as a root smudge but since it was just me doing this with two mirrors, I decided I’d put my hair through enough and did my full head. I’m very pleased with my results and my money piece has toned in really nicely. Now all I need to do is keep conditioning with Olaplex and find someone to give me a decent haircut 👍 Hope this helps someone out there

I have naturally auburn hair which is going white at the temples and wanted to find a dye to cover the white but also be near enough my natural colour. Auburn hair dyes tend to be too red and quite unnatural so I went back to L’Oreal Paris Preference Hair Dye in shade, 7.3 Florida. I have used this previously and liked it so, although I had tried a few different ones I came back to this.

To apply I mixed it in a plastic hairdressing bowl and applied it with a brush as I think that gives a more even finish – these are a cheap but very worthwhile purchase from Amazon. I like that it leaves my hair in a good condition as some dyes are too drying. It is a darker shade than shown on the box, so I may try a lighter one in future, but overall I am pleased with the fact it is easy to apply, there is little smell, it does not affect the condition of my hair and the colour, although dark, I still like.

Been dying my hair this colour for years because I love it! It does fade after a couple of weeks, but then I do it every 4/5 weeks to keep on top of regrowth! Always getting compliments. Pic supplied is about week 3 of doing it! My hair is dirty brown naturally with some grey appearing.

Make sure you look for your colour type to see what colour it would be like, I was an ash blonde anyway this wasn’t on there so I took a bit of a leap. This gave me a more silver blonde ash colour which is beautiful. Cheaper than in stores as well.

One I always use as I love the colour as I’m going grey. It was the price that was the deal for me as it was cheaper than the high St.

Easy to use. Lasting quite well for a red.
